Game Design Document
Quarantine was a project I worked on in Spring 2006 for Experimental Game Design. I was the Lead Artist, Designer, and Sound Engineer for this project. My contributions included producing the models for all the characters, the game design document, and the music and sound effects.
Quarantine is an experiment at returning to an arcade-like style of game play while combining some dynamic gameplay systems.
The Premise:
You are an abstract, hovercraft-like vehicle tasked with protecting a system from viral infection. To accomplish this, you must encircle blocks of data in order to coat them in a protective barrier that will stall infection of those blocks. The virus spreads by infecting adjacent blocks. To combat the virus you will have to split and merge blocks, utilize the effects power blocks, and stall the virus in any way possible. You can only win if all the blocks in the system have your protective barrier, but be wary, as the virus will capture and merge blocks to form hubs of activity that can spawn viral manifestations to hunt you down.
Quarantine was on display at the 2006 RPI GameFest.
